Frequently asked questions

Is it easy to change the name on an Aadhaar card?

Yes, changing the name on an Aadhar Card is a fairly straightforward and hassle-free process. It is most easily done using the online mode by visiting the myAadhaar Self Service Portal. Under the services option you can opt to update your name on your Aadhaar Card by providing the right information, uploading the soft-copy of the relevant supporting documents and paying the requisite process fee.

If you need to visit the Aadhaar centre in person that is also not a big challenge, from a process perspective. You will just need to fill the Aadhaar correction form and carry along your self-attested copies of the required supporting documents.

How long will it take for the Aadhaar name correction?

As a customary precaution, the UIDAI office gives the upper limit of 90 days for the process to be successfully completed. However, it has been noticed that most of the online applications are completed within 30 days. This, of course, is dependent on all the information being provided accurately by the applicant with no errors or contradictory details. If your application is rejected for some reason, the process will need to start all over again.
