What’s Inside

The UIDAI issues Aadhaar Cards in various formats, including the most popular paper-based Aadhaar Card. To make the Aadhaar Card more secure, portable and durable, the UIDAI has introduced PVC Aadhaar Cards. Let’s explore the features, benefits, application process, and charges of obtaining PVC Aadhaar Cards.

What is a PVC Aadhaar Card?

Made with Polyvinyl Chloride, the PVC Aadhaar Card is a credit-card-size version of the traditional Aadhaar Card. While a PVC Aadhaar Card contains all the same information as a conventional paper-based Aadhaar Card, it also includes extra security features that prevent duplication and tampering.

Features of a PVC Aadhaar Card

The polyvinyl chloride used in a PVC Aadhaar Card makes it more heat and water-resistant than paper-based ones. As a result, PVC Aadhaar Cards have a longer shelf-life than paper-based ones, eliminating the need for frequent replacements.

Tamper-proof Design

PVC Aadhaar Card has a host of security features like a secure QR code, hologram, ghost image and guilloche patterns that protect your identification data. All these features make PVC Aadhaar Cards tamper-proof, minimising counterfeiting risks.

Compact Size

Unlike paper-based cards, a PVC Aadhaar Card is as compact as your regular credit card. This allows you to easily carry it around in your wallet.

Benefits of a PVC Aadhaar Card

Improved Convenience

You can carry your compact PVC Aadhaar Card in your wallet without worrying about folding or damaging it.

Improved Durability

The hardy plastic build of the card makes it immune to the weather elements. As a result, PVC Aadhaar Cards are less likely to tear or endure damage.

Instant Verification

Every PVC Aadhaar Card has a secured QR Code that can be scanned for instant verification. Scanning the card retrieves your identification info stored on the UIDAI database.

Enhanced Safety

The UIDAI uses advanced printing techniques for PVC Aadhaar Cards, including micro texts and guilloche patterns. This reduces the risk of forgery, guaranteeing additional data safety.

How to Apply for a PVC Aadhaar Card?

You can place a new PVC Aadhaar Card order online by using the following steps:

Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website at https://uidai.gov.in/

Step 2: Under the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab, click ‘Order Aadhaar PVC Card’.

Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar number(UID)/Enrolment ID (EID)/Virtual ID and security code.

Step 4: Complete the OTP verification process.

Overall, compact PVC Aadhaar Cards blend convenient pocketability with enhanced security features. Advanced safety features like a QR code, micro text, and hologram make them reliable offline identification proofs while ensuring top-notch data safety.
