The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made the EPF facility very accessible to members of the scheme. You can now open your account, file your nomination and even know your claim status online. That’s not all. It is also possible to keep an eye on your EPF account balance from the comfort of your home. Wondering how to check your EPF balance online?
Well, there are four ways to do this.
This is a long way off from how things were done back in the day. Earlier, employees had to wait for their employers to share their EPF statement at the end of the financial year. But now, you don’t have to do this at all. All you need to do is learn how to check your EPF account balance online, and choose a method that’s convenient for you.
The EPFO website is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. If you are using your PC, you can check your EPF account balance on the EPFO website itself. Here’s how.
The Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG) is a one-stop application to access a wide range of e-government services. Needless to say, you can also check your EPF account balance via this app. Here’s what you need to do.
Too tired to log into an app or into an online portal? If it’s one of those days, but you really need to check your EPF balance right away, you can do this with a simple text message. Curious about how to check your EPF account balance with just an SMS? Here are the steps you need to follow.
Here, you have to type out your UAN in the place of ‘UAN’. And the LAN refers to the first three characters of your preferred language. For example, if you want to use English as the language for communication, the SMS should read: EPFOHO UAN ENG. Or, if you prefer Bengali, the text should read: EPFOHO UAN BEN.
You can choose from any of the following ten languages: English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam & Bengali.
You will then receive the balance via text message. Simple, isn’t it?
You can also simply give a missed call from your registered phone mobile number to 011-22901406 to get the details of your EPF account balance. You will then receive an SMS on your registered number, with the details of your EPF account balance.
However, you can only opt for this route if your UAN is linked with your PAN and other KYC details. If it is not, your employer can help you with this. Once that is done, you can give a missed call to this number to check your EPF balance on the go.
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made it easy for members to access their EPF facility. You can now open an account, file nominations, and check claim status online. Checking your EPF balance has also become convenient. There are four methods to do so. Firstly, you can log into the EPFO website and view your EPF passbook. Secondly, the UMANG app allows you to check your balance after logging in with your UAN and OTP. Thirdly, you can send an SMS in a specific format to a designated number to receive your balance. Lastly, giving a missed call to a specified number will provide you with your EPF balance, provided your UAN is linked to your PAN and KYC details.
You can log into your EPF account online and select the ‘Member Passbook’ option under the ‘Services’ section for employees. You will then be redirected to a new page, where you need to log into your account using your UAN (Universal Account Number) and password. Once this is done, you can view your EPF passbook.
You don’t need your PAN to check your EPF account balance. Your UAN is what you need instead, since that is the unique number assigned to each employee who is registered with the EPFO.
