How Does the Fi.money EPF Calculator Work?

The provident fund, or PF as it's commonly called, is a corpus that's accessible to you upon retirement. This corpus is built both by contributions from you and your employer over your entire career. You can use this calculator to work out how much money you will have at your disposal

  1. Your age: This is used to calculate how many years you have left until retirement, or in other words, the total tenure of your investment
  2. Your retirement age: This is capped at 58, but you can voluntarily retire earlier than that. This number minus your age right now gives us the investment tenure.
  3. Basic component of your salary: This along with your 'Dearness Allowance' helps us work out the percentage of it that goes towards your PF corpus.
  4. Current PF balance: This is used as your starting balance and helps us accurately calculate your final EPF corpus.
  5. Expected salary growth: Your monthly PF contribution increases as your salary increases.
  6. Expected returns on your PF is fixed at 8.1% per annum currently. This rate is reset every year by the government and has ranged between 8.1% and 8.8% over the last decade.

You can use this calculator to estimate the amount you'd be left with at the end of your career.
