What does the U16 error code signify in UPI transactions?

The U16 error code indicates that you have exceeded either the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) limit or your bank's limit for transactions. Notably, no money will be debited from your account when this error occurs. Below are some common reasons for encountering the U16 error:

  1. You have surpassed the UPI limit of Rs. 1 Lakh in the last 24 hours. Please check your bank's limit for more details.
  2. Your account has already completed 10 peer transactions in the last 24 hours.
  3. The recipient of your transaction has received more than 5 consecutive credits from peers within the last 24 hours.
  4. You have exceeded the UPI limit of Rs. 5000 for your first transaction within 24 hours of adding a new bank account or UPI ID.
  5. You have exceeded the UPI limit of having made more than 100 peer transactions in the last 30 days.
  6. You have exceeded the UPI limit of 20 transactions of less than Rs. 10 each per day.

If you meet any of the conditions mentioned above, we suggest waiting for 24 hours before trying the transaction again.
